carb question
what would make gas shoot out of the fuel bowl vent tube? It's a holley 600 cfm vac. secondaries. I'm not sure what i did wrong because i rebuilt a 750 holley about 1 yr. ago and it still works great. thanks
i thought they were too high also, so i adjusted them 3 times. Right now the needle is all the way in and it still fills up. Waters density maybe different from gas, but i removed the bowl and put it in the sink and the float rised up till it shut the needle and seat. I also tried the old smacking it with a screwdriver trick thinking it maybe stuck and still nothing. I will take it apart again today, if anybody has more ideas let me know. thanks
Actually, I can't think of any examples of where a "gas" is denser than a "liquid"
But back to your problem, assuming that your float isn't leaking and filling up with the liquid (either gasoline or water at this point), I'd say we can narrow your issue down to two things:
[1] A damaged needle that isn't seating correctly. (Did you take the pressure off the needle when you were adjusting the float height?)
[2] The fuel pump is pumping too much pressure. (Basicallyoverwhelming the needle regardless of fuel/float height.)
I haven't actually experienced issue #2 above, so I'll let somebody else run with that solution (or shoot me straight). Good luck.
