Default Preliminary V-8 swap work

So my plans of doing a V-8 conversions are a go ahead. I am first going to save up (Abuot 2 grand, than I'll jump in)

It is going to be a while, obviously...

My question:

Is there any preliminary work that I can do that requires little to no money to complete? Or even, any work that would make my Mustang better? I have an entire shop and all the skills required, what would you guys recomend I do? Anything I should build or fabricate?

I am thinking about making some subframe connectors, any place I might be able to get some dimensions for a good set? ('66 Coupe) Or is anyone willing to measure their setup and post the specs?

Currently a 20ci 3 spd auto, soon to be 302 w/ t-5 + 9"

Edit:I actually found directions on how to make some....
