I have a new 302 with maybe 1500 miles on with a 600 holley.The carb was given to me and i rebuilt and still has occasional problems.When im just cruising around everything is greator even decent accelerating isfine,but when i stomp on it i get smoke.Not white like water in motor..I know there isprobably some oldtranny fluid on the headers could this be itto rich any ideas?Ive heard that the headers will heat up real quick and cause that.True?

Is the carb a vacumn secondary or a double pumper? If it is a double pumper, it might be hitting the engine with a little too much fuel when you suddenly open the throttle.

Just a stab in the dark,,, but maybe...

Are you seeing unburned gas smoke or oil being burned? Your rings may or may not be set just yet, so stay out of that carb with your foot until she is broken in. If unburned gas smoke, then adjust the carb.

Vaccum secondaries.So soaring if i adjust the carb and stay out of it for awhile if it is rings they should seat ok?Appreciate you help
