GT mustang or not?
Ok I'm a new mustang owner and have a 1965 mustang coupe. what makes a car a real coupe and not one that was built. I read that there were like over 600,000 mustangs made in 65 but only 15,000 GT cars It would be very easy to clone a GT if the vin numbers dont clearly clarify it as a GT car. my vin number shows a few things that look to be GT options. How can I verify my 65 as a 1965GT

65 B 68 74 1 6
I looked up the above numbers but I did not see anything that came right out and called this car a GT
thanks in advance

GT's came with two different engine options, the K code and the A code, the A code had about 225hp and the K was putting out about 271hp.you have an Aand that enginewas used in both GT and non-GT models so its really hard to say. i think that if it seems like it is unrestored and has all of the GT options like fog lights and all that good stuff then its most likely a GT. im pretty sure that is accurate but if not im sure someone will correct me
I bought this car only because it looked so nice and had to sell my 69 road runner to pay for it. What would a 1965 GT in mint condition be worth or how can I find this info out. from a scale of 1 to 10 being concoures, this car is a 9 1/2 28,000 miles on car
I'm a mopar guyand Ford now,but hope I bought this car right

If it has original running gear and accessories. If it is 9.5/10 including body, paint, interior and engine compartment. And if it is an A code (never mind the GT).
My guess would be 24k.
One way to evaluate a 65 to see if it a real GT is see if it has rocker panel mouldings. GT's did not come with these in 65. Should have a tach that goes to 6000 rpm, a clock, round speedometer, fog lights and disc brakes in front. I am sure there are other things but I can't recall.
Pictures?
Edit, the reason I say never mind the GT is because unless you have the original sales documentation it is hard to prove on a 65' what it really is. Even with a dealer bill of sale it is possible the dealer added the GT options and it wouldn't be an original "factory" GT. Oh yeah, the GT's in 65' had a quicker steering box too.
