Hasn't this been hashed out before here?
The new oils are designed for roller blocks built with very tight tolerances. I read it in a mechanical publication that my ASE Certified friend gets. It stated that the diesel oil still is manufactured with what the old flat-tappet engines require as far as lubrication. I am drawing a blank on exactly what that was at the time but none the less, I have seen it in a couple of different magazines and websites. That is why I run the diesel oil.

Personally, it doesn't make any sense to me to run oil meant for a compression motor (diesel) in a combustion motor.
From the little I know about diesel motors, they run more off of compression (something like 30:1) and less off of ignition (i.e. spark).
Someone please correct me if I am wrong. I'm going off of info I got about 4 years ago while working at Pep Boys from one of the techs there.
But to my point, Yeah, sinthetic would probably be a little heavy for something broken in on dino-juice. I'd say keep an eye on the seals and ween into it. Go synthetic blend for a few changes and slowly move into full synthetic. It's kinda like jumping into a fiber diet. You'll end up with massive gas pains and hurt something (more likely, someone!)
