Grenada disc conv. dust cap installation
I've been working on installing the dust cap on the rotor forever now, it seems. I'm generally a very patient person but I'm losing hope. Is there a trick to hammering them on? I've two brand new caps and I tossed the old ones or I'd try them.
Crimp the inside edges a little bit but not so much that you interfere with the nut and cotter pin on the hub. If you have a very large socket that fits over the outside of the dust cap but rests on the rim of the cap then that is the best thing to have - then you just tap on the end of the socket to drive the cap in evenly. Otherwise just be patient and work around the opposite edges slowly.
I does take lots a patients. If you don't have any sockets to do as mentioned above, take a flat screwdriver and keep tapping lightly around the lip on the edge of the dust cover and eventually it will start.
i know exactly what you mean. i just installed mine a month or so ago and it was a pain in the ***. i ruined one of my dust caps and i could not get it in with just the hammer. i got a piece ofpipe that fit perfectly around the edge and they went in very smoothly that way. so maybe try to search around for something like that. hompe depot should have something.
hahaha...ya thats what i did. i spent like half on hour pounding on the first one before someone else suggested to use the pipe and then bam...like a min later they were both on
