Default Bent Pushrod

So I was driving home on the interstate last night and out of nowhere the motor starts sounded REALLY weird, almost like a rattle. Well i got home and decided to check and see if the rockers were adjusted correctly. Got the valve cover off and discovered that the # 1 exhaust valve spring was stuck fully compressed, and that the push rod was bent.
I just had the heads rework about 4 months ago so i am lost as to what would cause this. HOWEVER, I do have a new set of Performer RPM heads sitting in the garage so i guess its a good excuse to tear down the top end.

Sounds like the no1 exhaust valve stuck in the guide. Pushrod bent trying to force it open, and it stayed stuck open cuz the valvestem is jammed in the guide. I'd put the Eddy heads on and check to make sure there wasn't any piston/valve contact in that cylinder. And go to whoever did your heads and kick him in the face.

yeah dude, one of three things happend.

1) they nick'd up the stem and installed it that way (would chew up the guide and eventually load up with material and stick

2) they replaced the guide and didnt ream it properly, too tight = stuck guide

3) they assembled heads with guides not being cleaned. alot of places keep everything dry and blow them off after machining and then assemble. this is asking for trouble. it is MUCH better to put the heads into the spray tank and blow dry with an airhose afterwards. THEN assemble
