Default wiring problem

I have just restored a 1964 1/5 convertible I have reinstalled the original wiring (engine bay and dash) when I connect the battery and turn ignitiontoON I only get the oil light come on and no power to anything else? With a test light I get power to the two bottom fuses Dome & Aux. Could this be an ignition switch problem or some else. The wiring worked fine before the resto started. Also can anyone explain what each fuse is for?

Stole this from the FAQs... http://www.midlife66.com/wiring/wiring.html

Looks like it's time to start tracing back the circuits in this new harness to see what's not working. Start with the main power lead that connects to your starter solenoid and work outward from there.

Can't help you very much but the obvious place to start is at the connector on the back of the ign switch assembly

If you don't already have one you should buy a 12 Volt test light. Sharpen the probe to a sharp point and begin checking there. If the wire has power follow it out to it's end.

A good tipO NOT HOOK it up to the battery, but use a battery charger. You can fry the whole harness, and possibly set the whole car on fire in a matter of seconds if you have it hooked up incorrectly. It only takes a small trickle charger to do the job. The battery charger's internal relay fuse will protect the entire wiring harness. You may blow the smaller fuses, but better than replacing a $600 harness.
