Well I wanted to update everyone on this. I finally got a third member, 3.50 gears with torque loc rear instead of trac loc rear. Got a great price and the member looks awesome. I will install it this week and let you know how it performs.

hi all summit racing has some good currie units with your preference of gear ratio, but the part #280120646245 has me hard pressed whether to buy from ebay or go with a brand name company

Yea, I was in the same dilemma. But this is a weekend ride, not a daily driver for me. I did get richmond gears on mine, it's just the carrier that I am worried about, I have heard good things and bad things about the torque loc assemblies. But for $450 delivered, it was hard to turn down. And a 6 month warranty to boot.

Hey, just checked that ebay # and I was going to buy from that guy but he never contacted me after numerous attempts. Kinda pissed me off so I found another guy on ebay that has great communication. It took awhile for me to get the unit but I was in no hurry.

Try 69dart_440 ebay member. That's who I bought mine from. Basically the only complaints were shipping took too long. And that was true, but I think he builds them as they are sold.

My experience has told me that a 9", 28 spline, non-nodular 3rd member is not THAT much better than an 8". Plus it weighs a bunch more. Was it a posi? Was the nodular unit available? What about 8" posi's?

From what I researched, it is more like a limited slip unit.Slipping at a certain torque. There were other units available. And yes, you are correct to say that there are 8" units out there that are beefy or more beefy that some 9's. Contact him, he answers his emails pretty good. And yes...the 9" I bought weighs around 65 lbs.

Hey, I spot an alabama plate up there ^

What part of the state? I'm on the gulf coast.

*Side note...is the word b-ama censored?
