Bay Area
Try Santa Clara, CA, where there are schools that teach English and where there are a lot of body shops, some good, some expensive (they may be one in the same) and a few that only want your money.

I can imagine that the bay area is expensive. The wife and I spent a week out there last February and loved every second. That is one of the coolest places I have ever been. If I didn't love where I live I would definitely consider moving out there. I would prefer the area around Santa Rosa or maybe Napa, but San Francisco was just so different than anywhere around Colorado that it was quite an experience.
As to your question....consider this a bump!

The good thing is that wine is cheap. Car part prices by mail are the same all over the country. The expensive part is - (ready) houses. Today it was 77 F and I did take my 65 Fastback out for a spin. We don't have tornados, hurricanes or snow (except in the Sierras, 20 to 30 feet sometimes) to contend with andthe last earthquake that swallowed up someone was - it never happened. Remember, California is not going to slide into the Pacific - the rest of the country is going into the Atlantic.

I drove through California a few years ago and bought gas. Never again.

Seriously, as a native Angeleno, I can see why some people love it and some people hate it here (I feel both ways about it depending which day of the week you ask me). As stated, the housing prices are absolutely ridiculous. I'm not kidding when I say that $700K is going to get what most of you folks around the country call a shack, about 1500-1700 s.f. on a 5,000 s.f. lot in tract hell. A million dollar house won't even turn an eye any more. It is crowded as hell, the air quality is still kind of lousy despite efforts to improve it (i.e. strict smog laws) and everything costs more, from housing, to utilities to insurance and pretty much anything else you can think of.
That said, people continue to flock here so there must be something to this place. Job opportunities are endless, the weather is pretty much spectacular year round and the entertainment/cultural options are abundant.
I know having this in the backyard makes it certainly more tolerable to live here.

I am from Concord...I can hook people up with auto work if they're wiling to travel...
But yea, EVERYTHING in the Bay Area is exspensive. Like they were saying earlier, 600,000 is basically a 2 bedroom starter home w/ no lot...
