Default Bouncy Ride

I have a 67 coupe, and I have just replaced my whole front suspension with a new aftermarket suspension. I also replaced the rear leafs with new ones. I took her for a spin and the handling was great except the fact that the car actually bounced along the road as a cartoon car would. I think it could possibly be the rear air-ride shocks, of course they are shot b/c their 40 yrs old, but I'm not entirely positive if that will fix the problem. Any suggestions?

one test - when parked/engine off, push and pull up and down on a corner of the car a few times thenlet go- the car should settle pretty quick, if it bounces more than once or twice you probably need new shocks

and since yours are 40 yrs old, you need new shocks

I have done the "bounce" test and the results are fine. I changed to a front coilover suspension. Is it just a matter of breaking in the new leafs/ front coilover shocks?

was there a reason you left the old shocks in the back?

if you have new springs that are reasonably firm, the bounce test may be a little misleading and more than likely your rear shocks are the problem.

depending on the spring rates etc and what shocks are included with the coil over fronts, the ride should be pretty firm, which mayskip the rear of car arounda little over a rough surface, but not a sloppy bounce.

I probably went too far the other way...now it is like a rock on the back...no bounce to test even with full body weight thrown down on it, but it means it will dance around on the back if you hit rough patches on the road.
quite scary if you are punting hard and mid corner[]
