That same thing happened to me when I bought my 67 convertible from an 82 year old man. He owned it since 1974. When I picked it up, he was definitely tearful. I asked him how he was doing he said "not good, I just need to get this over with." He said he had thought all week about calling me and saying forget it. But he felt like he was too old to keep it around. Coincidentally, it was 18 months ago and I also paid $13k. He made me promise I wouldn't hack it up. It looks original, but I don't think he'd approve of the 347 that's going in there this month....oh well, the 289 was awfully tired
$13k is the number... I'm calling him tonight and setting a time for me to come over on sunday and pick up the car. If not, I'm looking for another one.
Looks like it is in great shape. I'm with everyone else, try to talk him down a little ........ it can't hurt to try.
Of course it could and did hurt. If the original poster would've handed the guy the $13k in the first place, the thing would be sitting in his driveway. Instead, the guy had a chance to have second thoughts. Hopefully, he still gets his ride.
MTFBWY, you got this one, i feel for the guy, i could never part with my stang and ive only had it 2 1/2 years! poor guy, im sure youll make a nice home for it!
Fellas, after going back and forth with the seller, I now have a beautiful Rangoon Red 1965 Convertible sitting in my driveway. She beautiful and a blast to drive. Thanks everyone for your advice. I look forward to asking you guys tons of questions.
Congrats, I just got mine a few weeks ago, and everytime I walked by the garage door, I just had to peek in to say hi. You are going to love your new car, I still have a smile on my face. Oh BTW have the dreams started yet.
