Default Discs for the 67...

Hey I'm putting a 9" into my 67 coupe and the axle I ordered is coming with discs. It still has drums up front, so what kind of master cylinder or proportion valve do I need? Any ideas?

I'm really surprised you asked that David. After all the Granada swap threads you haven't soaked up anything? Just go to the counter of any autozone type store and get a dual MC and prop valve for a 77-80 Ford Granada or Mercury Monarch.

Haha, sorry there OldTimer... I don't hit the granada swap threads a whole lot, and I wasnt too sure if it would be different for rear disc for some weird reason... But thanks though!

Slow down Glen, that's discs in the back and drums up front? A bad, badcombination. Go to 4 wheel disc.

+1 Jim
is that your intention - do front disc swap as well?

If I were doing the Granada swap i'd add slotted rotors and some "greenstuff" or similar higher performing street pad.

If I had bigger than 15" wheels i'd spill for Wilwood, AP Racing, Baer or someother higher performance caliper with a larger slotted rotor and still a higher spec pad.

The questions below should help out with advice.

What did you order up?
Did you get one of the crate Currie axles with explorer disk brakes, or did you go with something different?
What size wheels are you running front and rear?
How much do you want to spend?

Why are discs in the back such a bad idea? Can't do front discs just yet, but I will by probably the middle of summer.

It would be like Chubby Checkers hit - 'Come on baby, let's do the twist'. The rears would lock up and you, even with a proportioning valve, would loose control - badly. Of course you could try. Please leave the name of your executor.

You don't think they could be adjusted a little softer to avoid that?
