Default 1966 Mustang Horn

I have tried everything I know how to get my horn to operate properly all the time without success. I have replaced the horn ring and all the parts that mount inside the horn ring with new parts and it still does not work right. I also replaced thecontact points that mount on the ring mounted to the steering wheel withe new points.I know I am getting voltage to it because I checked that. My horn ring is a standard one on a standard steering wheel.
I have tried all I know without success.Have any of you guys had this problem and if so how did you fix it.
Thank you for any help.

Your horn contact rings may not be in contact with the 'brushes'. The fix is to move the steering column up a little. To confirm that you may need this adjustment, look at the gap between the top of the column and the wheel.

Thanks Jim for you reply. The brushes you refer to, would that be the two contact points mounted inside the steering column collar. There are two of them standing about an inch apart and about an inch high on small springs. I'm assuming both of them must contact the metal plate mounted on the bottom of the steering wheel. Is this correct?

You checked the horns themselves? Probably not the case but it still wouldn't hurt. Check allthe wiring tothe horns, etc...

Yes, I've already checked both horns and the wiring and they check out OK. Thanks for your idea though.

Get one round fuse and break the glass out of it. Now,put the metal caps on top of each brush and reassemble your ring. Try it now.

Well, wouldn't you know it. I was putting the horn ring assy back on the steering wheel and broke off one of the little plastic ears on the horn mounting ring that holds the assy on. Now I have to order a new one before I can proceed.
If I didn't have any bad luck I would have no luck at all. Ha
