1969 Dash Clock Question
I just purchased my first classic, a1969 Mustang Mach 1. This is also my first post of hopefully many to this forum.
Question:
I have done a lot of searching for information regarding the dash clock in my Mach 1. It works, but runs fast. I am not sure just how fast, but it is off about 45 minutes per day. Is there any way to calibrate these clocks? Can a restorer like http://www.tachman.com calibrate it? It is not a big big deal, but I would like it to be a little more acurate.
Thanks all.

Yeah, if you want to spend 275 bux to get your clodk cleaned and calibrated, Tachman would be one of your best choices. Someone on here mentioned them a few years back, and said they were very satisfied with their work.
I met a guy at a concert, he is a distributer for scott drake i think. This was a while back but i remember him telling me how to calibrate that clock, i dont remember his exact words but here is his information if you want to call him up and ask lol. If he asks about who i am tell him i had a mach 1 at the roxy in LA lol. Any ways heres in Info i know he knows how its done.

Theres a company called Instrument services in Illinois that sells the quartz movements for your clock. Quartz is a modern upgrade for the mechanism. It does not change the outward appearence of your clock. It vastly improves the operation of the clock. It keeps time flawlessly. The best part is you can do it yourself. Along with the kit you get a video or maybe a dvd today that walks you through the process. I did mine about 7 years ago and it works great. They are in Hemmings under Mustang parts. Phone is800-558-2674 They also show a web address as ClocksandGauges.com

It was easy to do.

Thanks for the kit info and the contact at Drake. Someone told me yesterday that if it is an old mechinism, you just adjust the clock backwards 12 hours if it is fast and forwards 12 hours if it is slow. After a few adjustments, it is calibrate itself. Not sure if that will work, but I will give it a try and see. I like the idea of the Quartz upgrade. I am going to look them up now.
Oh I almost forgot that with the mechanism upgrade you'll once and for all be able to what time it is while driving. That is if it is anywhere between 2:00 and 5:15. Thats the only parts of the clock that you can see from the drivers seat. LOL 70's interior layout engineering. You gotta love it.
+1 on thanks for the link Michael.
My clock doesn't work at all. It has been on the bottom of the list of things to do though for the exact reason that you state... you can't see it anyway!
I bookmarked the site, maybe once I get everything else perfect, I'll give them a call.
