Default shipping costs - any help appreciated

Hi guys,
I sent a list of bits and pieces to MU for an international shipping quote.
The largest part was a new grill $94
There is a hipo aircleaner kit, trunk weather strip and a few other bits and pieces. Total cost $170.

UPS shipping $150[:'(][:'(][:'(]

bearing in mind our dollar buys about $0.80 of one of yours and I get taxed an extra 10% on top locally for both parts and shipping...the whole deal ends up being $440 by time i see it. The only advantage of UPS is I will see the parts in 5 days.

If anyone knows the US parcel system well enough to suggest a cheaper alternative, I could really use some help.

Thanks
Ben

I would have suggested the United States Postal Service, they had a cheap way to ship packages internationally "USPS economy parcel" , but they got rid of it. I pasted a quote to send a 15 pound package from the US to Australia below. Basically I think you are screwed, I'm sure that the elimination of economy has impacted a lot of people and business, because it was about one third the cost of any other international shipping method.

Good luck and be sure to post if you find an economical way to ship!
Peter

Cause you will be a grandfather by the time the package gets there. Did you hook up with Peter Reed?

UPS is really not much faster than USPS either.
