I have Goodyears on it now. There are a lot of good brands out there such as Goodrich, Yokohama, Cooper and Bridgestone. I won't buy a Firestone tire ever again due to the crappy tires they made a few years back.

Same here, Firestones are not worth the cost. I got Coopers on my 66 and on my niece's 03 GT. Good tire, good price.

I REALLY like BFG Euro T/A's if you can get them in your size.....if not and you don't race the car just plain T/A's have always done right by me.

My wife had a 1975 302 Mach-I with Firestone 500's. They seperated and had wire sticking out all over the place. They were no good in the rain..you couldn't launch the car on a wet road without spinning and that was in Charleston, SC with no hills! Firestone would not warrenty them so I bought BFG T/A's. They stuck like glue, got bite in the rain, didn't hydro-plane like everyone said they would and lasted 55,000 miles.....not bad.

Cooper tires are a super brand for two reasons not to include the snake on the side. They last forever, and they are not very expensive.
I have about 30,000 miles on my Goodyears, and they are about 1/2 way worn out. So, I certainly can't complain about their wear factor either. It wasn't too many years ago that if a tire lasted over 20K miles you were lucky.

I thought Bridgestone and Firestone were the same company?

I thought Bridgestone got a bad name a ways back so they focused on the Firestone name for a while. Then since the whole Explorer deal they were back to focusing mainly on the Bridgestone name.
