Tire Brand Preference??

That didn't take long.
How do you know your tires are still strong??? If you know how to evaluate this you should contact the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration. The only thing standing between the NHTSA and an age limit on tires is a good test method.
When you buy tires check the sidewall for date of manufacture - there are documented examples of "new" tires being on the shelf for 14 years before they were sold!
Glad you are wearing your seatbelt!!!

I bought my Goodyears 10 years ago and they are still strong with no dry rot or any structural problems. Granted, my car has been kept in a garage in a dry environmen for all those years, and I drive it a mile or two every day. If I thought I was pushing the envelope I would certainly buy new tires. I wear my seat belt.

Pirelli P Zero Nero M&S on the Lexus IS. Great Tire and am on the second set. I went with BFG KDW on the stang. Haven't put any miles on them yet but the look is awesome. Go to tirerack.com and check out the review section. That is where I go every time.

Uh, oh... I ordered different ones. The ones I ordered are the Exta something-or-other... here it is:
Kumho Ecsta ASX.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....odel=ECSTA+ASX
Supposed to be grippy with a good sidewall. Suposedly they wear quick, which makes me think they haveless carbon and silica, so my hopes are that they are stickier.
Thanks for the heads up 2bav8. If I don't like these, I'll try the ones you are talking about. Man, it's getting to be a very slim group of performance tires for 15" rims.
Edit**********
I just checked to see if they had the MX in a 225/60 15 (stock size for the '90 GT), and they don't. Too bad, they look like great tires.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I was under the impression that Kumhos were economy tires from Korea. That is the reason that I bought a set for my wife's old '98 GT because she was going through tires like they were going out of style. I got the Kumho ZREcstas for about half the price of the Good Year gatorbacks. They worked alright although they did seem to make a bit more road noise. I did recently purchase a Kumho for my 14" styled steel spare in stock size (the other four are 15" styled steel with 50 series BFGs which I think I'm going to replace with some 60 series GYs).
+1 on the Ecstas
I have a directional Bridgestone on the Mustang at the moment. Great grip but wearing the shoulders out quite quickly. Faster wear is the price of grip.
IMO different tyres suit different cars. My wife's wagon has Dunlop SP's that are performing well but lastedless than5000m on my Subaru. They are wearing out faster on the back of a turbo AWD vehicle than the Goodyear NCT's on the front. Go figure. point being, if you find a tyre that suits your car and driving style, stick with it.

When you shread2-3 sets of 315's a summer sumitumo's are the way to go. Not to many tire companies make decent street tires in a 315, let alone ones that cost $120 each. The BFG__ DR's are great except they lasted me about a month.
