I noticed how everybody stepped forward to give you a reply. No, you don't need a choke. If there is a choke butterfly you could 'adjust' it open or - or he said - put in a manual one. My 'K' has a manual choke but I hardly use it. I get it running and let it idle for a couple of minutes. Your option.

Hello. A lot would depend on where you live and what you use the car for. Fuel vaporizes very poorly in a low temperature/ low vacuum environment. If this is the car that you use to go to work and stuff, and you live somewhere that gets pretty cold, then you probably should have the choke working properly. The purpose of the choke is to create a higher vacuum environment in the intake plenum until the temperature is high enough for the fuel to vaporize and stay vaporized. I've been fifteen minutes late all of my life. If you're also like that, you probably won't want to wait a couple of minutes for your car to warm up if you have to be somewhere at a certain time. If this is a 'fun car' that you just drive occassionally, then, like 66GTKFB said, the choke isn't really needed. Hope that helps.

Mine is a weekend cruiser in the Netherlands with no choke and she starts poorly in the winter but other than that no choke no problems.
