Default Rebuilt P/S pump problems

I just installed my 65 P/S pump that I rebuilt w/ a new rebuilt kit. Took the car for a hot lap and it feels like I've got no power steering. When I rebuilt the pump everything came apart and went back together real easy.
So my question is what did I screw up this time???

Hard to say.

Could have put the campack in backwards or upside down, install a side plate wrong, installed the pressure valve 90' off, had the o'ring on the pressure valve slip off or get torn while installing the pressure can.

Could be something jammed in the pressure valve and it is stuck open.

Aloha Vince,
You actually rebuilt the pump? I didn't know there was a rebuild 'kit' or parts available. I always buy rebuilt ones. Now, is it an Eatonor a Ford pump? There is a internal valve inside that may be a pressure relief valve and it's stuck. See it you got fluid returning in the tank. Best I can do for now. I had a Dodge van that leaked all the fluid out in less than 100 miles so I know the BS you're facing.

Well the rebuilt kit is more like a gasket kit.( stopped the leak)Its a 65 ford pump w/ a slant filling nossal. I was vary systematic in the way I peeled the pump apart and also the it went back together. Being the knucklehead that I am ,I could have but I don't think I screw up.
I'll checkthe exploded view again,( is there an other source w/ a better explodedview of the gutts of the pump?I'll also check if I'm getting any return fluid. If theres any thing elseyou guys can think of I would appreciate it.I'll keep you informed.
thank for the help Vince.

I don't have the time to go into everything right now, but the Service Manual says to test for pump output pressure, you need a 2000 psi gauge. As my 'governorator' says, 'I'll be back'.
