Stuck Spark Plugs
I am trying to change my spark plugs. I just got this car, it has a 302. The previous owner had it for four years let it sit for about a year.
Two plugs came out normal. All the rest are doing the same thing.
I start to loosen them, I can get about one turn and then they start to tighten up again. I can tighten and loosen back up but get no further than 1 1/2 turns and they are so tight I can here the threads squeaking if I try to loosen further. I'm worried I'm going to strip the threads or break off the plugs. Anyone have any similar problems or insight into how to proceed on this.
Thanks
Ray

Sounds like you have some rusty threads on those plugs. Unscrew them as far as you feel safe and hit the threads with some PB Blaster penetrating catalyst. Then screw them back in and out againg and keep hitting the threads with PB until they are out. Don't force them.

Ijust happen to havesome PB Blaster. I've started with one plug to see how it goes. I squirted some in there and worked it back and forth a few times. I've started the engine to let it warm up and will let it sit for a while and re-loosen and spray again. Once I get a method down I will hit the rest.
Thanks again

When you install the new plugs, go to Auto-Zone and get some spark pulg thread lube (anti-seeze). Put a little around the threads of the plug, dont get any one the electrodes, and screw 'em in and torgue 'em. You wont have the stuck plug problem again.
+10,000 on both penetrating catalyst(WD-40 works too, any light oil spray or anti-rust/penetrant etc) and anti-sieze. ALWAYS properly lube ALLLLLLLLLL threads. Sprak plug, head bolt, water pump etc etc. You should always use either thread sealant, anti-sieze or moly lube on a thread depending on what is called for, and on occasion, thread locker where needed. This is ESPECIALLY important with anything going into aluminum threads or any stainless hardware, both those havea nasty tendancy to gall
