Paint prep around windshield
During my restoration, I sand blased the rust off around the windshield, made all necessary repairs. I threw some etching primer on it. What next ?
I don't have a spray gun to put epoxy primer on. When I get it painted I'm not going to have the window in so I want the body shop to paint all around where the windshield seals. I can't leave it etch primer ... do I spray some spray can primer or enamel on it for now ?

The self etch is fine for now if its in doors away from the weather it shouldnt rust. Self etch is fine to paint over if the metal doesnt require any body filler i believe. But when it comes time to paint you can sand off the self etch, clean up the surface then shoot some epoxy primer over it. I am kinda doing the same i blasted my engine bay and shot it with self etch primer then painted it black. But for the body i will be using epoxy primer.
Do you know anything about how a body shop would handle this since I will take it to get professionally painted ? Would I just tell them to strip of all the spray can stuff I used to protect the metal temporarily ? What about the costs added to a paint job if they have to do that ?
id get some por 15 and brush it on in there since you cont have acess to a paint sprayer or id rent a small compressor and buy the $20 paint gun from home depot to shoot epoxy on it
It was a bit cold - 60 degrees or so. I just put some on the other day and it was about 70 degrees - it seems like I put it on too thick (curtains, not runs [:@]) or brush it too much and get brush marks. I didn't want to spray it now because I have painted the car and don't want overspray. Maybe I should try the reducer or maybe change my technique so that I don't over-brush. Where I have gotten it to flow out smoothly, it looks great - but getting it to flow out over bondo work I did on the shock towers has been a challenge..............
