Default Gas Cap

The other day someone stole gas from my buddy's Surburban! Can you believe that crap? He just filled up and went to the store, came back 30 mins later, got in his car andit was on empty. Gas prices are so ridiculous that people are actually starting to steal from each other...Anyways, I'm drifting off here, have any of you installed a locking gas cap? I hate the thoughtof having my tank tappered with.

Ya know I never really thought about that, is it possible to get a locking gas cap?

My cousins Ranger had gas stolen from it and he lives in a neighbour hood where theres city officals, attorneys, news cast members, cops, etc...a very high scale hood.

I lived on Terceria island which is a part of the Azores and islands which belong to Portugal. As with any European country, gas prices are ridiculous and gas is a very desireable comodity. I had my truck robbed of gas about 4 times before I got fed up with it. A locking gas cap will do you no good.. Those cheap bastards can be taken off in a New York minute. What you need is an alarm system. I ordered an alarm system from Whitney and installed it. If the gas cap is taken off the entire vehicle explodes with a tremendous alarm siren. I know, because I woke up many nights with that screaching sound, only to see young buck Azorians running rapidly away from my house with an empty gas can in their hands.

Oh, one other thing. Now this is for the hard core gas robber. Once they figure out you have an alarm system that is activated when you take the cap off, they will simply go underneath and cut the gas line under the tank., The way to thwart that is to weld a metal box around the line. Been there done that at the hobby shop on Terceria island at Lajes Field. That's an American Air Force base in the middle of the Atlantic ocean in case you don't have geographic skills.

Unfortunately the use of firearms is not the answer.Yes, I also own firearms. People who steal gas are desperate. Do you shoot a desparate person? I would not.

Isn't it legal to shoot trespassers in texas?

Thankfully I don't have to worry about gas thieves....yet...

Unfortunately, firearms are rapidly becoming the answer. We aren't quite there yet. With all of our education and relaxed, compassionate laws, plugging a thief is becoming the best option. If he's dead, he can't steal from you.
