What heads? And what cam? Most stock heads suck anyway so a cam might not do a whole lot

What stock heads? 67, 95? 351W? 302? 289? Ford made a LOT of stock heads over the years

even the crappiest of stock heads will benefit from a larger cam (i hear later model rollers were pretty much maxed out though). lets assume you have 289/302 regular ol' heads, check out the 218/228 .471/.471 cam. with lifters its less than 80.00 - they also have one a little smaller too, but that one i listed works great with stock heads. you can get away with using stock springs, but i would highly recommend stepping up to something a hair stiffer. (100 lbs. of seat pressure would be great, and eliminating the ex. side rotators would be even better [8D])

i think the 5.0ho late model stock cam was about the same duration and lift etc as a 289"K" cam

Well, the performance won't be stellar, but I'd definately get better springs, whatever the cam manufacturer reccomends. you could also use Comp's new Beehives, that's what I run and they're great

The cam should have a card with the spring pressures needed at at least two different heights. You need a machine shop to set those for you. If the cam is very mild you might get away with it as is.

With some work the stock heads are pretty good. By work I mean going with 1.94/1.50" valves and some port and pocket work. I have a friend that works in the head shop at Hendrix Motor Sports and he took mineto work to do a little touch up. He said the crews opinion of them was if you were turning 9,000 rpm some more improvement might net another 15hp, but for the street they wouldn't change them.
