Default Dash Pad Help

Posted on another thread...

Last night, I installed the upper dash pad trim. I don't have the eyebrows for the lower trim yet, so I couldn't install the lower. I will take pics tonight and post them but I'm not sure if my dash is installed correctly, or if its a crappy dash pad, because on the sides where the eyebrows go, there is a about 3/4 inch space where the dash pad doesn't touch the dash. Also, the holes for the clips do not line up with the bottom of the dash pad nearly close enough. It seems like the trim isn't sturdy enough to really clamp down on the dash pad and bring it to the dash. Any thoughts? Should it fit in nicely or should I need to muscle it on? Is it supposed to fit on it nicely?

Mine fit almost to a tee. Not sure if muscling them on is ok or not. I got mine at NPD if that makes any difference.

I'm not exactly sure where its from... PO installed it without the trim... now I know why.... I'm debating whether or not to buy another one or try and make this one work....

Are the two nuts behind the dash, above the radio installed? If your dash has been on awhile and not secured properly, it is possible that it could've warped in the heat. I don't know if it is correct because my assembly manuals are at home, but I just removed the original factory dashpad a few weeks ago and it had adhesive holding it in place on the top on either side of the speaker hole.

The one on my 65 just slid right on without a hitch. That one may have shrunk on you and you just need to get a new one.

THats what I'm thinking.... It's a shame too because it looks immaculate.... the problem is that it seems just not to fit at each side. I think I will take it off and see what if there is something not installed right.

For replacements, NPD makes good ones?

Its definitely installed very securely in the middle. I think it was bolted in and the trim was never replaced and it warped, or the trim never was replaced because it didn't fit. Looks like my new dash pad will be replaced a newer one that fits. Bummer

I got mine from Texas Mustang because they are local and the shipping was cheaper. We have a list of Mustang vendors in the FAQ that you can choose one nearest to your town, or maybe even one that you can drive to and save the shippi8ng cost.

Hi there,
I'm new around here and i don't wanted to create a new post for my question.
I have a 65 mustang coupe and I need to take out the dash pad to repaint the dash.
I have removed all the screws and trims and the pad doesn't come out.
I removed:
The two screws of the speaker grill and all the trim above the bezel and the glove box.
It sims to bestuck or I have missed something.
If it's stuck, I think i'm gonna brake it and replace it with a new one.
Sorry to change the conversation.
If I have to post a new one just let me know.
Thanks

There should be a bolt on each end of the dash pad as well as one on either side of the radio. You'll have to remove the radio to get to those 2, but the others you should be able to get to from the instrument hole and the glove box hole.
