Default 351C 2V

A couple questions. I have a 69 with a 351C 2V. I bought the car not running all i did was repace the gas tank the old one was full of rust and turn they key it started right up with a little turning of the distributer. The guy i bought it from couldnt get it started i guess it was the crappy tank.

Where or what is a good book for rebuilding the engine?
What isa good book to restor the car?

I have since added an electric fan and found out that the alternator is dead. I can get a 65Amp one from the parts store, what do you think will a 65Amp be enough or do i need to get a bigger one? If i need a bigger one what do you think get one from a ford truck off the internet what would be a good one to get.

More info car has a 9" rear end no idea what gears and front disc brakes from the factory.

An electric fan draws a lot of juice, about 30 amps I think. I would for sure go with at least 65 amps

I am a fan of internally regulated alternators, as the amperage ratingscan be higher and you can do away with the regulator (I think).

We will be going with a 1 wire alternator in my son's 66. We are going to wire the car for a later stock alternator as well just incase I dont like the one wire setupbut unfortunatly, we will not be using the stock wiring soI will be of no help whatsoever with the wiring if you elect to go this route. I am sure that someone who knows how will chime in and let you knowhow to do this if you decide to go this route.

Oh,,, I forgot,, welcome to the forum!!!

first host your photos on a website like photobucket, then get the URL, not the ones with a tag on each end, then click th little yellow mountain button on the far right of the lower toolbar on the reply box, stick the URL in there, and hit enter and it will put the pic in the message

How sure are you that its a Cleveland. The 351C didn't arrive until 1970 year Model. Easiest way to tell is, 351 W has 13/16 plugs and the 351C has 5/8 spark plugs. Of course if you bought the car knowing it had a differnet engine then this is all null and void to you.

Another way to tell the difference, perhaps slightly easier. If the top radiator hose is going directly into the block it is a Cleveland, if it goes into the Intake manifold it is a Windsor.

Yea I didn't think that the Cleveland was arround in 68, and my first post in this thread kind of mentioned this, but I edited it because I though I might have been FOS!,plus I was too lazy to refresh my memory with research!

get a 130 amp alternator off of a mid 80 tarurus or a 93+ lincoln mark 8 for about 20$ from the junkyard and wire it in to you car ull have to put the oulley of of you old alternator on it since the 130 has a serpitine setup installed
