Default Air bags

I'm hoping that you all don't think me that big of an idiot for asking, but my dad doesn't want me to have a car without airbags. Therefore, he doesnt want me to have a Classic Mustang. Now, is there any case in which someone has put an airbag in a classic mustang? Any input is greatly valued.

Get racing seats with a five point harness. 100% safer than any airbag ever made.

+1 with what superdavid said, i have seen someone put airbags in their classic, it looked ugly as hell, airbags cost more lives then they save

4 point harness' For The Win

although you dont have to have racing seats for them, just get a small rollbar and mount the 2 top ones off that

Yeah, with those seats and 5 point belt you ain't coming out of that seat. I've never heard of anyone putting in airbags in a classic. That doesn't mean it can't be done, but I just don't see how. But, I learned a long time ago to never say never.

I just might be able to convince my dad to let me get a mustang if I tell him about a 4 point harness. How much would the small rollbar cost?

The only other thing I cold think of would be an airbag steering wheel from a more modern Mustang, but that would be ugly as hell in a classic.

Right after i wrote the first one an image flashed through my head of a modern mustang steering wheel on it and I had to shake my head to get the image out.

Not sure what year car you're wanting...but 1968 was the first year of the collapsible steering column. Before that, they were hard mounted spears.

Go over the list of safety features with your dad.....
-High back seats with multipoint seatbelts
- Front disc brakes
- Radial tires
- Brighter headlights
- Possibly Tank Armour or a rear seat block off plate for Coupes.

Yep, and the classics were made out of steel and not plastic.
