Default RE: Transmission Installation.. Tips?

Along with all of the good advice posted here, I have found it helpfull to be able to turn the output shaft of the transmission (with the trany in a high gear) to help align the shaft splines to the splines on the presure plate. Like this you will be able to "feel" the splines when you touch them together.

Every little advantage helps when trying to stab a stuborn tranny.

<<Also, you might use this opertunity to double check that the clutch disk is installed correctly, a backwards clutch disk can make instalation very difficult. This equates to a lot of needless work when you need to drop the trany back down anyway.

<<A backwards disk is not "cut" to accept the shaft, thus instalation is possible, but very dificult.>>

How do I know this,,,,,,,,, well...........

Default RE: Transmission Installation.. Tips?

Guys ! thank you for all the ideas !

Glad I took a break away from the car yesterday - tonight, I came from work and I was decided to get the baby in! well it took me 10 minutes to get it done! I couldn't believe it, almost cried I said almost !

Now I can move on with the exhaust line installation, clutch adjustment, and final touch, the front brakes! hopefully I will get on the road again by the end of this week-end ! that would be sweet!

Thanks again! will keep you posted on how the car starts and how the clutch / transmission are performing
