Default look at my oil pan!

so my car was a il6 but the previous owner put a 302 in it but the oil pan looks like it was bent to make it fit is there a way to fix this problem or is it ok the way it is?

It looks like they used a rear sump style fox pan in a front sump early model chassis(it is right? what year?) I'd replace it cuz that's not good. No time like the present to get a good front sump 7qt baffled pan - you'd need a front sump oil pump pickup tube too, but those are pretty inexpensive

I agree it looks like the wrong pan here is the right one any mustang vender should have the right one.

http://cantonracingproducts.com/pans...ront_sump.html there are some good pans. I'd definately get something with a baffle if you do any type of hard/performance driving. They'll keep the oil from sloshing away from the pickup and causing air to get into the oiling system

That definitely seems like it would affect the structural integrity of the pan... I'd say get a new one.

yea i would definitely have to say that is not good, you will most definitely need to get a better suited pan for your car, i've never seen anything like that before, hopefully you get that sorted out, good luck

It's part of the steering linkage, which is why fox style pans don't fit in early models. Whoever did that was just too lazy/cheap to get the right pan. Though too lazy...it musta taken some real effort to get that pan to do that
