My friend has 65 with 289 and stock 2 bbl.Everything was running great and then drive home from a cruise it just died.It starts just fine and runs until he stops at a light or sign or something.Any ideas.IM having him clean i tall out really good tomorrow.We already rebult it

 

Sounds like he is getting starved for fuel. Check the filters.

 

Timing? My Bronco 302 like 7 btdc not 6, not 8, 7. It is strange but that is what it likes. What is the idle set at? Maybe it's not high enough for hot in town cruising.

 

That was happening to me a while back. The points on the distributor were shot, in fact my whole distributor was shot, so I replaced it. You could buy a new set of points... or try lightly sanding the ones that are there. Unless you already switched to an electronic distributor, then I have no idea.
