Default Headliner

I am looking at mustangs on craigslist.com, and some of tehm say they need new headliners, can you post pictures of what the headliner is, I've got an idea but I want to make sure. Also how much would a headliner cost?

Except for convertibles, it's the vinyl thing over your head that lines the roof, hence headliner. They are under $30.00 but can run over $100 to install WITHOUT being screwed up. (That's to keep the natives in check who can get it done cheaper.) The factory installed them before the glass went in and to remove the glass, install the headliner and then reininstall the glass is a whole bunch more.

1- get in car. 2- look up. its the vinyl(or in new cars, cloth) over your head. in the case of most verts, there isnt this.

on the chev, new headliner kits cost about 80-175.

Ya, I thought so. Wonder how bad it is, since none of them have pics of it.

I know the front and back glass have to come out on the 65-66 models but I think they can be left in for the 67 up models because of the rubber seal on the early years. It is not a job I would tackle. Here is my 12 year old headliner that I bought off Ebay for a song, but a couple hundred to get it installed by pros.

Supersnake just put up a few pics in his "Redux" post

Also, as a side note - A place I frequently go told me it would be $700 to install...not knowing any better, I was like "wow." I had planned on having them do it in a month or so, until a friend told me that it can be done very well for about $80 - 100....So good thing you asked

I had newheadliners onboth my 66 hartop and my 66 Fastback (the one I sold) installed without the glass being take out. The guy that did this, worked at the San Jose assembly plant for 20 plus years -installing headlines. I don't know if he's still alive, but it was a pleasure watching a craftsman at work.
