Default pertronix 1

I have my 289 2v pretty much tuned up. How close do you have to be to install the Pertronix 1?

The air gap between the module and magnet sleeve should be 0.030.I assume that is the info you are looking for?

No. Do you have to have the timing/tune up to specs before you install the Pertronix, or does the Pertronix take care of the timing?

Yeah Fordjob1 is right. The gap is not so critical on the pertronix as it is for the points system though. Just use that plastic gauge that is furnished with the kit.

I don't believe your question was answered above...

No, it does not take care of the timing. If it was out of spec before the switch-over, it will likely be out of spec after the switch-over.

Also, you will still need to change your spark plugs, check your wires/distributor cap/etc that you need for your tune up. No black magic here!

ThanksCrunchy....Yeah the pertronix does not change the timing. So, you just treat the timing issue exactly as if you had points in it.
As far as the spark plugs are concerned, you can leave them gapped at 0.035 or open them up to 0.040 or so for a slightly hotter spark.

OK, started to remove points etc. then found that my dizzy is for a 390 2-v. I am pretty sure I have a 289 2-v. I think the PO changed the dizzy. Will this have any effect down the road. Installed dizzy # C6AF-K, by my book should be C5AF-N Thanks
