What do you consider your car to be?
With all of the recent concerns over the possible split of the forum. I was wandering what percentage of the membership here has a classic Mustang consider their car Original or Restomod. Also, please post the reason(s) you go one way or the other.
We are restoring our Mustang pretty modified for both safety and performance reasons. Also, it is pretty plain as the original and we wanted to have a more unique vehicle.
it is a very good topic. What is the line between original and mod? I myself "THINK" mine is a mod. The only thing i really did was add the duel exhaust and headers, and from what i read, that makes it a mod. All the rest of the car is stock, no engine work such as cams or lower end. Is mine a resto mod, or original?

Things that make you go Hmmmm.
Mine is currently original. Asfar ashow I purchased it anyway. Like Stevetra though, it is my intension to put on disc brakes and rebuild the suspension for safety's sake. I don't intend to beef up the motor or trans. My "mods" will be subtle.

My fastback has no longer has any original moving parts. As they broke, I upgraded them. It doesn't have the original or equivalent replacement drivetrain. I call it a restomod because when I take it to Mustang shows, the purists turn up their noses. But then again, the restomod guys usually do, too, because compared to the real restomodders, I've barely done anything.
My vert...well, I like to think it's closer to original because it's more about cruising than going fast, but in reality, while it's still got a few original moving parts, I've replaced just about everything that broke with better-than-stock. 289 to 302, because I had a spare. At a Mustang show, the restomodders really turn up their noses and the purists only begrudgingly let me park next to them.
If this is another split-the-forums thread, please don't. I learn from everybody whether they're building a hacked-up hotrod or a showroom floor redo. There's really no right way of doing anything. There's only the way you are doing it.
