Default Customer Radiator Hoses

Anybody have expierence with customer radiator hoses?

I would almost prefer a plain old black rubber hose. But the problem I have is that the hose length is not going to be any where near stock for the upper, and the lower is going to the opposite side. I see some you can make up with chrome outer covers. But if I remember right, those clamp ends are kinda cheesy. Anybody got any thoughts?

BTW, upper is 1 3/4" and the lower is 2".

Customer??? Custom??? Which one?

I considered a custom stainless for my 69, just because everywhere I go, they do not have one for a 351C.

I've had pretty good luck finding off-the-shelf hoses for my custom apps by mocking it up and then looking through the hoses on the wall at the parts store.

Bingo. That's how I was able to find myupper hose, which was unique to my application.

Same here.. I cut up some old hoses & mocked up the distance. Also, as ugly as it is, using an inline filter helped in fitting the hose length..making it a 'cut to fit' application.

Can you have the water inlet moved to the other side on the lower radiator?

Yes...most radiator shops can move that. I've heard it runs around 40 bucks.

James, you could probably take the hose you have now with the filter attached to it to a large automotive center and find one that matches it without the inline filter. That just doesn't look right.

Perhaps.
The 5.0 radiator hoses on the Fox bodies have that funky 'up and over' bend to clear the alternator, which looks odd. I'd rather have the filter than not though. It works well.
