Default Upgrading Alternator for Classics

Here's a very nice graphic on upgrading to a 130A alternator on an early Mustang.

Cool! I was just looking for that online and couldn't find it where I saved a link. I notice there have been a couple of minor updates since I last looked at it. Thanks.

Cool. Good info.

But, I like mine better. Just a wire between the alt and the batt.

can you buy a setup like this or do you have to make your own? I can do just about anything on a car but when it comes to electronics I am lost.

It's out of a Ford Taurus if I can still read.

I saw that it was out of a 93 taurus I would rather buy a kit than attempt to cut it out of a car and hope that I do it right. I also am doing alot of work in my engine compartment and I dont want to have a hacked up look.

Tony, obviously you are new to this site and don't know the history. Don't pour salt into wounds. We have basically two camps here. One is the restomod camp that nobody can define the word restomod, and the other camp is the original, or at least original as can be expected with the parts we can buy to keep our Mustangs running and on the road daily. We have basically agreed to get along in this section even though we have differing views of how to outfit a classic mustang. JamesW is one of the extremely modified classic mustangs, and my ole' Yeller is one of the almost original models. We have decided to get along with each other and not make disparaging remarks about our rides.

I am not trying to pour salt on old wounds. I respect those of you with the origional cars. I am just asking a question that happens to pertain to the modified classics. Like I stated above I suck with electrical and would rather buy a kit off the rack than risk burning my car to the ground by doing something stupid like trying to modify something that I dont know anything about.

The hacked up look statement is what I was referring to. A lot of the guys on this section have hacked up engine bays because they are modding their engines to something that was not intended to be in the engine bay of a classic mustang, and we have had wars over this phenomena. All I am saying is that we have to keep this section friendly so that we can learn from each other and keep it together, or face a separation of the section into two camps that nobody can define.
