Default shackles??

anyone have shackles on the rear. Was thinking of getting them, just for the summer. Then in the winter do springs. Just wondering if it is worth wild. If anyone has them, tell me what you think of them, and if you have pics, that would be cool too.

Default I won't pull any punches . . .

By 'shackles', I assume you mean longer ones.

My advice is to just do the springs and spend only that money. Shackles are likely to make the rear of the car "squirrely", badly enough to take a lot of the fun out of driving it. A friend of mine had this professionally done by the local Ford dealership service department on a nearly-new '67. Back end of the car wanted to go every which way but straight. That this happened nearly 40 years ago, that it bothered meback when I was much younger, and that I still remember what it did to the car ought to tell you something.

i did mean longer ones. If what you can remember was that bad, i don't think i would want to do that to my car. I just wanted to try and "get by" the summer with the back end up alittle more, but i don't want it to ride like crap.

Agree with Norm. They make the car respond funny, look cheesy, and are lost money if you're planning on replacing them.

Shop the catalog sites and watch for sales... you should be able to swap springs out with all new hardware for under $150 easy

There are a few things that classic mustang owners have an unwritten agreement among the clan, and those are no extension shackles, no mud flaps and no luggage racks. If you want to get laughed at, go ahead. Your car will look like a stink bug going down the road.

I said it was unwritten. Maybe you didn't read it.

How about a 66 Signalflare Red Mustang Fastback with a 17 foot green canoe mounted on roof racks?
