Default Horn won't go

Hi everyone we have purchased a new steering wheel and when we fitted it we can not get the horn to work. The new wheel came with a new contact lug thingy this dose not seam to make contact will the metal to get it to work. Oh by the way it is a 64 1/2 model. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you also purchase new brushes and a new horn ring? Your horn isn't working because the horn ring is not making contact with the brushes to complete the circuit. Do a search on here to see what all was said about this very same problem a week or so ago.

Make sure that the new steering wheel is for a 1964 model car. Later wheels have a different electrical configuration.

+1 on that. A 65 will not work, I gave my old one to a buddy with a earlier mustang and it wouldn't work.

Hi Guys yes we did get a 64 steering wheel and new lugs but it won't go on far enough to connect and when we put the old wheel back on it fits up ok. it is as if the new wheel dosen't have big enough tapper where the sharft goes.

Adjust the column up to fit. Loosen the two nuts on the bracket at the bottom edge of the dash and pull the column up a bit. It will be tight.

Hi Guys just to let you all know we fixed the problem. We had to hone out the tapper a bit but Jim (66GTKFB) was right we simply pulled up the column upa bit that brought the horn connecter up and closed the gap. Now it,s sweet. Thanks all.
Cheers Coombsy.
