Default Identify 3rd member gears

Hello -

My first post to this forum and I hope someone can help me out. I have 2, 8" rear-ends and neither set has the bolt-on ID tag, is there another way of identifying them? Thank you!

Eric

read this http://www.mustangsplus.com/tech/axles/index.htm or open it up and you divide the # of teeth on the ring gear by the # of teeth on the pinion gear to get the raito.

From drivetrain.com
To determine your existing gear ratio:

Place transmission in neutral and elevate one tire. Mark tire and driveshaft, turn tire two complete revolutions while counting number of turns of the driveshaft. This is your Actual Gear Ratio. i.e. 3 turns + 3.00 ratio, 4.1 turns = 4.1 ratio, etc.
