Is that right? I owned an old 30 something Dodge Brothers car back in the 50's. My daddy also bought a 1949 Dodge pickup and that thing was like a tank.

The sites aren't too hard to find if you Google it but like you said, it's important to find a reputable company. Have you tried just going to a local show and asking some Mopar guys there?

And an even funnier one, the first Cadillac car, the premier automobile of General Motors, had a Ford engine. Tell that one to the bow tie gang.

After Henry Ford's first company (The Detroit Auto Company-their vehicle was the Quadracycle) failed, he went on his own and produced another vehicle and to find investors and gather some interest in his new car, he was involved in a race with Alexander Winton (Winton Motor Carriage Company) and beat Winton...after that race, he found a handful of investors and they formed the Henry Ford Motor Company. He withdrew from that company after less than a year, and the remain board of directors formed what is today Cadillac. The Dodge brothers ran a bicycle and machine shop, and they had been making bearings for various companies in the american auto industry, when Henry Ford approached them after leaving Henry Ford Motor Company, looking for investors, and they agreed. They were part of the founding group of FMC, and their machining business was responsible for many of the parts (including the drivetrains)of Ford vehicles produced until 1914, when they cashed out of FMC to form their own company.

anyway...67Sally, I have gone to a few shows and asked around, but for something like an OEM gas tank, I will either have to settle for what someone drags out of a junkyard or buy new. My best shot to get a nice used tank would be at the mopar nationals, but that isnt until the middle of august, and the engine is going in later this month.

I do appreciate the advice from everyone! [8D]

I didnt cut and paste a word of that...ive done reviews of Henry Ford's rise to fame, as well as the history of the dodge brothers. The short "life of henry ford" used to be linked from the main page at the top right, but it came down...i dont know why.
I thought you were in charge here Pat. Why don't you know why the short life of henry ford is not linked to the main page?

If it wasn't cut and paste, it was certainly from the propaganda ministry - speaking of propagada, there are 'rumors' that good ole Henry F was an admirer of Adolf Hitler and was himself anti-Semantic. Henry F was not a nice guy - all the time.
