Shock question
I'm not a shock expert by any means so I ask this question. If I hit a dip in the road my tires rub on the inner lip of the quarters. I have about 2" clearance on either side right now. I have no idea how old the shocks on the mustang are. Can I replace the rears with KYB's and avoid the rubbing when hitting the dips? It rubs with no one in the rear seat. I know the weight in the back seat will also affect this issue.

Gas filled shocks will not increase ride height by much. Gas filled shocks will slow down the axles rise but they will not stop the rubbing. When you hit bottom, you hit bottom. If your tire is too big, it's too big. Just drive around the moose and caribou trails, avoid the ruts.

+1, unfortunately, new shocks will not eliminate you rubbing issues, but they may lessen the occurrence a bit, not with extra lift, but by "stiffening" things up a little on the upstroke, andlessening oscillation.
Although I have never hit a moose(yet), I came so close it scared the crap out of me. In the winter they get smacked all the time. They hang close to the roads due to the deep snow. I've had to stop and flush caribou off the highway because they woulnd't move. I've almost hit a griz running across the road too.
I don't think the springs are too old. The shackles and grommets look relatively new. I think the guy replaced them not too long ago if I remember. Here is a pic of the springs when I did the 9".

I hit a moose one day coming through Yellowstone Park. I was in an 84 F-150 pulling a trailer. Moose ran out, I swerved and hit the brakes. Too late, hit him in the shoulders at about 50mph. The truck had a pushbar and the moose was a moose so we both left the scene a little sore. I had got out to see if he broke my radiator and by the time I closed the hood he left. One broken windshield, bent fender, bent hood and cowl, and twisted chrome pieces full of hair. I saw the look of fear as he rolled over the hood and I don't know who was more scared the moose or the 3 of us in the truck.
