Restore it, no doubt. It's rare... if you want to restomod it, get a different car. This is one that should be restored to original.

I can't believe I am saying this, but I actually like that color combo. I'll throw in another vote for restoring it.
Yea, it looks a lot better than I expected, Iwoud drive it, but I would be a little pink myself!

I do like the way it looks.

I think any pink car sucks, and that includes the classic Mustangs.

How about a pink Cadilac?

It's a unique car that's all about image and association. Worth restoring in its own right, but I think in this case even more so because it is a 6.

Good Afternoon All,

I am in the teardown stages of the restoration of my 1967 Playboy Pink Mustang. The car is a hardtop, straight six, and the frame/doghouse/floorpans are in extremely bad shape and need replacing. Possibly the fenders as well. However, the upper body of the car is in almost perfect shape. The roof/hood/decklid are great. All of the little grille and trim parts, including the bumpers, are intact and reusable.

While I am not yet to the point where I need to firmly decide what type of restoration I am going to do, factory original or restomod, I find myself torn between the two. While I would love to upgrade to disc brakes, power windows, LED taillights, etc... The rarity of the Playboy pink mustangs make the factory original restoration model seem very appealing as well. What are your thoughts on the subject?

Does the rarity of the playboy pink paint make it more worthwhile/unique/valuable to restore to stock?

Does the sheer amount of sheet metal that needs replaced make a restomod more practical?

Once finished, which would be more likely to turn heads or win awards at car shows? (Assuming I am capable of doing that well of a job on the restoration.)

Please let me know what you all think.

Thank You
Hey Michael,
Do they sell Pink Mustangs in Shipshewana?

Actually you're lucky that you have a 67. Starting that year, you can order a "Marti" report and find out exactly how rare your Mustang really is. It will tell you how many of each of the option combinations were made for your car.

First off, are you sure it's playmate pink or a Dusty Rose pink? I believe S was the color code for 67 Dusty Rose.

I would spend the 50 bucks or whatever it is to find out exactly where my 67 fell in the 'rarity' ranks before deciding.

Let us know what you find out.

Is this the color of the car?

If so it is Playboy Pink and should be restored to original IMO. Personally I would love to own and drive an original Mustang this color.

Same....have you seen Elvis's pink 1959 caddy? It's out across the street from Graceland in Memphis.

Thank you all very much for the feedback. I was leaning towards the factory original restoration, but had some doubt as to whether it was worthwhile. I am now fully convinced and will definately be restoring it.

I will look in to the Marti report, I had not heard of that before. I did a little research on it before I bought it to confirm that it was Playboy/Plamate Pink and not Desert Rose, but I have been wondering about just how rare the car is. Reagardless of it's value, though, it would just be great to roll into a car show with it. I have never seen a pink mustang here in the Northern Indiana area before, so I am sure it will stand out.

The only problem will come if I decide to sell it. Good luck prying it out of my wife's hands. [8D]

I'd restore it to completely original, and drive it proudly. I like the color combo, the red interior with red stripes looks good.

Good decision on restoring it.
