Default rebuilding steering valve

i am trying to get the steering valve apart ( powersteering mustang 1966) but i got stuck:

any suggstions to get this apart.. without ruining it [8D]

update: i already got the front off... noticed a little pin that blocked taking of that front... now i only need to get that balljoint out.. i can move it freely in it's " housing" but still can't get it out.. atleast not without using force to pull out

i got this far:

you might wanna ask why the heck do i want that balljoint out... well.. i got a rebuild kit that contains a new balljoint.. so i wanna use it too

The bronze bushing needs to go farther into the end of the centerlink. It may not easily slide in, but it will go. Once the bushing is in far enough, the slot in the bushing where the ball stud goes becomes a hole and you can lift the ball stud out.

If you have a Ford shop manual that shows the ball stud laying down inside the bushing and sliding out with it, the manual is wrong. They stopped making valves like that in the late 50's.

Be sure that the new bushing you are putting in slides smoothly in the end of the centerlink ALL THE WAY. Yours is probably binding right now because the sleeve of the centerlink is out of round or bent.

unfortunately there is no new sleeve in the kit..... on the balljoint you can see plety of rustpits.. atleast good thing to replace that

You really need to replace that bushing. It is so worn that the steel backing is showing. Not only will that make the bushing loose in the sleeve, it will wear grooves in the sleeve quickly, if it hasn't already.

i couldn't wait to get the valve back together so i got the new socket this afternoon right away...
if compare both sockets it is quite obvious that old one was really worn out... speccially on the edges on the left where the ball is located

and in meantime the valve put back together with all the new parts.... and can say now that it was certainly needed to rebuild it.
