10 amp fuse shouldn't hurt anything. If it does, don't blame me.

Here is a very recent thread dealing with this subject. I think a 1 or 2 amp fuse would do. Check the instructions for your new radio to make sure.

The orig wires from the car are different, there is a black, but it is power +, the other color is not red unless ithas beenreplaced.

Get a test light or a multimeter to verify the switched power.

Google is your friend. Here is your 8 amp fuse.

Is it a maxi style (plastic) or a glass style? I would "one" lower if you can't find the right one. 10A is a lot of current for the wire that would have been used on an old type radio...If you can read the side of the wire I can tell you the max current that the wire will handle...

Yeah, 10 amps to a radio is a lot of juice before the fuse blows. You can get creative and go to wal-mart or radio shack and get an inline fuse for just about any amperage you desire. I would use whatever the radio manufacturer recommends. If it's 8 amps, then so be it. You can't say they are not available.
