Default RE: warped valve?

yea, the bent valve stem is what seem to be most likely. man - can't i just drive the car for a while without spending money.

was saving for a t5, but, life goes on.

summit does not list a rpm for a 67, 289. the twised wedge is 1200 but has a 61cc. my stock 289 (ported) heads are between 52 and 55.afr cc is 58.

I had a similar problem once. It was the valve seat that came loose. So every once in a while the valve would get stuck because the seat fell out of place and after idleing for a moment it would pop back in place. luckily for me it didnt hit a piston so all I had to do was replace the head.

Very, very likely that this happend, didn't think of it before. Makes a lot of sense.

the edelbrock are $1100 but require fly cut pistons. mine are flat top with the 4 notches - i think that is fly cut. the cc is 60.

the afr heads are 1325. 58cc. not that much differnce.

not that much difference in price, that is. they are the best by in every article i have read. and only 200 to 300, a small long difference for a term investment.

AFR will mill the heads to get back at least part of the lost compression as an "regular" option. 5cc is a little over half a point in CR in this size engine. That they are aluminum vs your current iron ones, a little more CR may be possible, although things like piston/valve clearance and pushrod length become a bit more critical.

Sounds like the spring was weak or the seat moved,, Did you readjust the rockers after 500 miles or so, when you got the heads rebuilt. If they replaced the springs and it wasnt broken in correctly then you could have weakened the spring and most likely bent the valve stem
