Default Bench Top Blaster Cabinet

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=45411

do you think i could blast 68 headlight buckets in this? or would they not fit...?

my buckets are sort of trashed...missing bolts...little cracks but could still work...ive considered buying new ones...i see they are $114 for a kit (per side) from mustangs plus which i guess is sort of a lot which is why i would want to try to do it myself but do you think the cabinet could even work...? i have a spot blaster and everything just bouces off the headlight bucket....pretty useless...im just afraid this will be too....

p.s. - i dont know a lot about these things but thats the only one that would be cheaper than just buying the buckets and selling my old ones.....i can just remember using it to clean up parts in high school in auto shop....

I got mine from TIP in Ohio about 12 years ago. It's bigger than the Harbor freight one. Biggest problem I had was finding a compressor that's big enough. But when you finish your first bead blasting project, you will kick yourself for not getting one sooner.
There is one other area you need to address -a vacuum source to remove the dust and a shop vac don't cut it.

Says the working area is 25"X15". I doubt the buckets are bigger than that. Measure them before you jump though.

I made one of these out of a large tupperware bin, set of fisherman'sthick long gloves, shatterproof lexan, and some gaskets. It's not the prettiest thing in the world but it works. It's alsonot as nice as this one though. It's difficult to move the object around without having to stop and lift the lid.The biggestdrawback to mine is the dust isn't 100% contained so you have to wear amask with a strong filter.

hmmm...what kind of abrasive are you using...this one calls for glass bead...which i do actually have already and have no use for it since my spot blaster sucks...but i dono if its going to even have an effect....?

also, i was planning on doing in the backyard so im not too worried about the dust.....just put on a 3m mask and that should be ok.....

i just gotta figure out if the power will be enough to stip the paint and rust off the parts.....

One thing I learned with my cabinet is Bigger IS better.Once you start blasting your buckets, you will want toblast everything rustyin the shop lol

+1 on the mask, dont try to be a he-man and do it without one

66GT has a point too,if you are using a smaller compressor it will never keep up.
