what one do you have....? do you use the "reccomended" glass beads like in the directions? i just wanna make sure its going to actually work...id love having one of these things for future use...it would be money way better spent (since it will last and be useful for the future) but i just want some reassurance i will be able to get stuff down to bare metal with that blaster cabinet in the link and glass beads....

i could always get some other abrasive too like actual sand or oxide or whatever if it would make it work (please tell me if you know whats best to use)...i just dont want a clone of my spot blaster but in a cabinet (which is basically just really good at spraying a cloud of glass beads over every open surface within 1/4 mile....

so basically final question is "will i definitely be able to get parts to bare metal using the blaster cabinet in question?"

I dont know anything about the glass beads but if you are using sand I dont see why it wont take off the paint. I am using the I think it is the 100 pond sand blaster from harbor freight (not a cabinet) with the medium grain sand from the local hardware store and it takes paint off great but like what was posted earlier you need a decent compressor for the job or you will always be waiting for air. I too have been looking at the harbor freight cabinets but have put it off just because of the size of them and no more space in my garage.

i got this one http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=93608and i use glass bead judt because its what i always used when i worked for an engine building company butim sure u can use alluminum oxide, sand or what ever if u look at how simple the blaster gun is u will see why theres no moving parts or anything that would get messed up by using anything else

yes you will be able to get all the paint off but you will need an air compressor thats high psi

would 120-130 psi be alright to be effective? my compressor say max 150 psi but it usually stops at around 120-130 psi range for some reason....

Having done bead blasting for a dozen or so years I guess I got some experience. First, bigger is better in the compressor area - the smaller the duty cycle, the more efficient your task will be, and the more consistent your output will be as well. I use a special cut of glass bead from TIP (aka TP Tools and Equipment) in Canfield, Ohio, called 'Scat Magic'. It is a highly abrasive 40 - 80 crushed glass. Most of the time I use about 60 to 80 pounds pressure and I've learned to stop whenI've gone to far - that's a result of the previous twelve years. Too much air will ruin what you are trying to clean up. I remove paint and rust - exactly what I want the glass beads to do. On die-cast items or other non-steel items, use Jasco or some other paint remover to remove paint, then sand it smooth. It's a viable option.
