Default Why does a Shaker system cost so Darned Much??

I would love to put a Shaker on my engine, but its almost not cost effective. What kind of gains would I get out of the Shaker hood other than it looking bad a$$ ? I found a hood that was already cut for a shaker on craigs list for 150, and I need a new hood, but I dont want to pay $600 for the shaker itself.. And would it even fit with my 351w ?

You need to qualify "worth". My guess is that if you're looking for huge power gains it is probably not worth it. If you love the look of it then it is probably worth it.

The bottom line is if you like something enough and are willing to pay for it, then for you, it is "worth it". Help?

FWIW, I think the hood scoops on the 69/70 Mach 1's are pretty sharp. YMMV.

unless your car came with the shaker, the cost is way too high for what you get, there is zero gains. i want a shaker too

Oh yea,,, regarding your post, concerning whether the kit is worth it or not, that all depends on how bad you want it for your car.

I think it is really cool. I think it probably is overpriced but whether this is true or not, other options are limited. So the question is: "is that shaker $600.00 worth of cool?

I think so, but that is just me....

But they look awsome.. Im sure you gain a few hp out of it, but I thinkIm leaningmore towards how cool it makes the car look. It gives that big muscle look.. Anyone have one for sale? CHEAP!!!

Justin,
It's the laws of supply and demand - lots of demand = high price; low supply = high price. You got a double whammy.

JMD, I think you should put one on your car. So far, you have been a restomod king and that shaker would just be complete the top end of your motor.. And you could see the engine rumbling from the front seat... mmm...

Jim,, I agree.. Maybe they just need to make more, eh?

Yea I have always liked shakers, been thinking about it for a long time. The carb is already too high for a filter to fit under the hood, which brings me to the next issue, the carb may be too high for the shaker as well..... I don;t want to believe that there is not enough room, but I think that the reality of the issue is that ther is not enough room..[:@].. looking like a scoop..
