I too would LOVE a shaker for my 351C, but after much research many of them are all fiberglass. This really turned me off cuz it looks kinda cheap and can easily crack or break. The aircleaner should be metal and the shaker should be molded rubber/plastic. I am pretty sure the one on Mustang Unlimited is that same kind because I have seen a half dozen parts stores that sell that same package. The reason the orginals are$1500+ is theyareoriginal and metal! If you are going for cool factory, these will get there. If you are going for 5 foot visual appeal and longevity, I think these will disappoint. Just my 2cents. If someone has one, please pipe in.

Edit: This is why I modified my orginal Mach 1 scoop so that it is functional. I put on a Holley air cleaner and the cold air just blows right on to it. Not quite ram air, but at least cool air and much much cheaper.

I thought long and hard about getting a shaker setup but begged off of it because of the reasons given above, fiberglass, cracking, etc.

Since I figured out how topiece togethera 1969 Shelby air-cleaner, I have decided instead to go with the 67 Shelby hood and do the ram air thing. Still uber cool. Not quite as cool as a shaker, but then not quite as expensive either.

Now if I can just get the wife to back into this hood and hair-lip it like she did my last one, I would be able to justify the cost of the new hood to her.

Giving credit to Carroll Shelby and his efforts, the original shaker hood Mustangs were just an effort to get more cold air to the carburetor. My 03 Mach has the ultimate cold air shaker system for the EFI. This guys moves big time. You guys who are coming to the house in August will get to drive this monster. I hope JamesW comes with his 5.0 mod.
