rotella - engine oil
i was reading the post on engine oil posted earlier and i noticed that no one said they use rotella in their older mustang with flat tappet cam. does anyone out there not use the rotella?
There are lots of folks who use other oil I am sure, but if you are breaking in a new flat tappet cam and lifters, I highly recomend it.
We are using this oil for break in on my son's engine, even though we are using a roller cam.

Later I went way the other way,,,,, (see my other post on oil and my 90 chevy), Now I am in the middle somewhere, I have no problem with going to 10,000 miles between changes, and that is about where I change at, fithin a few thousand.
If we are talking a "performance engine" Ichange at about 6,000. (performance here = no where close to stock)

When I was running conventional oil I used Rotella. It is supposed to be the best dino oil on the market. I'm running Royal Purple in both my Mustangs now and am very pleased with it.

I have found that the Delvac will raise the oil pressure a little on worn engines. (about 5 lbs or a little more.)
Wow...I had no idea Rotella, and Delvac we avalible in part stores for cars...
It must be good because most piston aircraft use one or the other.
We had a Cessna 421 Golden Eagle that ran the Delvac oil, the engines were twin turbo charged contenentals, and our Piper Aztecs ran the Rotella, normaly asperated lycomings.
I always assumed that those two names brands were some special aircraft oil...huh...live and learn.
