Default Clearance Problems for High rise intake ?

Ok , So would it help out a stock engine if i got it a High rise performer intake than a Low rise ?

and would it give me a clearance problem with a stock hood.

on a 351 1965 mustang.

To answer your questions in order - YES and YES. This creates an issue where twodesires collide, which forces a compromise. Compromise is what building a car for performance is all about.

Yes as a rule, a high rise will out perform a low rise, but this does depend on theoverall setup of the engine.

IMO, after looking at the 351 in my son's Mustang, nothing will fit under the hood bigger than a low rise (or no rise) manifold. Mind you I have not tried to find a "under to hood solution", but IMO anything taller than stock aint going, and I am not so sure about stock either.

Not sure whats the dimension difference of a 351 windsor from the blocks, but my high rise on a 302 has no issues with room to spare.

I'm going on memory, but I want to say thata 351W will sit about an inch higher than a 302, all other things being equal. FWIW, I barely cleared the stock hood in a '65 with a 351W with early mounts (lower), Edelbrock Performer intake, Holley double pumper carb and 1/4" thermo spacer and 2.5" tall open element air cleaner.

Using the earlier mounts will get you extra hood clearance at the expense of header clearance by the shock towers and steering box. I did my swap back in '92 and had to have headers custom made because of my vehicle and cylinder heads (Alan Root with 'D' ports and diagonal mounting pattern).

Can you see why I went back to a 302?
